Many people ask the question if we can integrate or loyalty software with their Point of Sale (POS) software. The answer to this question 99% of the time is, “Yes, we can!”
How Do We Integrate?
The big question, “How do we integrate our rewards software with your POS system?” The answer is easy, yet complex. First understand, we do not make this decision. It is up to your POS provider. Each POS provider has a standard of rules they follow.
- They will allow FBM to sign an Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and give us the source code to create the User Interface (UI) that interacts with the POS system itself. This allows us to create the UI, many times much less expensive that what an actual POS provider would charge.
- FBM creates the UI spec doc and the POS company creates the UI to interact with their POS system; this method can be much more expensive.
At the end of the day, the decision of how our loyalty software integrates with the POS provider is up to the provider.
How Long Does it Take to Integrate?
The creation of the UI can take anywhere from a week to over a month depending on how complex the needs are. A big step in the process is the testing of the UI. Most POS providers require testing of the software to verify the system is functional.
If you have one or two business locations you would like to integrate FBM Rewards, the procedure can be fast. If you have 10+ locations, the POS provider may require much more extensive testing. All testing is completed in the POS company office.
Another factor in price is the business sector.. Some business sectors charge much more for integration that others. POS companies know your line of margin. If your line of work pays more than another business sector, the POS company will most likely charge a little extra. This has nothing to do with our company; it is simply the way business in this world works.
Do You Have to Integrate?
This is a great question and the answer is, “No, you do not have to integrate with a POS provider to use the software.” Learn more about other methods of here POS Reward Program Alternatives.
